Privacy Policy

Overview

StepNudge is designed from the ground up with privacy as a core principle, not an afterthought. This policy describes exactly what data is accessed, how it is used, and — most importantly — what is never done with it.

Data We Access

StepNudge requests read-only access to your step count data via Apple HealthKit. This access is used solely to:

• Display your current step count in the app, on your Apple Watch, and in widgets.
• Compare your steps against your nudge rules to determine whether a reminder should be sent.

StepNudge never writes any data to Apple Health.

Data We Collect

We collect no data whatsoever. This means:

• No personal information (name, email, location, age, etc.)
• No health or fitness data beyond what is read locally on your device
• No usage data, crash reports, or analytics
• No device identifiers, advertising IDs, or IP addresses
• No cookies or similar tracking technologies

How Your Data Is Used

All data processing happens entirely on your device. Your step count is read from Apple Health, compared locally to your rules, and used to schedule a local notification if needed. This entire process occurs on your iPhone — nothing is transmitted anywhere.

Third-Party Services

StepNudge does not use any third-party services, SDKs, or frameworks that could collect data. Specifically, there are:

• No analytics or crash reporting (e.g. no Firebase, Crashlytics, Sentry)
• No advertising networks
• No cloud storage or sync services
• No social login or social sharing integrations

Notifications

Nudge reminders are local notifications generated and delivered entirely by your iPhone. They do not pass through any external server or notification service operated by us. Apple's Push Notification Service (APNs) is not used.

Data Sharing

We do not share any data with any third party — because we have no data to share.

Data Retention

Your nudge rules and step goal are stored locally in your device's own storage (UserDefaults). You can delete all app data at any time by uninstalling StepNudge. We hold no copies of your data.

Children's Privacy

StepNudge does not collect data from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The app is suitable for all ages.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever change this policy in a material way, we will update this page and the effective date above. Given that StepNudge collects no data, we do not anticipate any changes that would affect your privacy.
